Tonight we had my mums take on chow mien recipe is below. This is always a favourite in our house and I never seem to cook enough to do two nights dinner as everyone always has seconds or even thirds. Good old fashion cooking, I love it :)
Mums Chow mien
1kg lean mince
1 chopped onion
1/4 of a whole cabbage
2 Tsp curry powder
1C uncooked white rice
1 packet chicken noodle soup (the one that makes 4 cups, not cup of soup)
Water
1/ dice the onion and add to a frypan with the mince until browned.
2/ slice the cabbage add the the pan and stir through.
3/ Add curry powder, chicken noodle soup and rice. Stir until combined.
4/ cover with water and bring to the boil.
5/ once boiling turn down to a simmer and cook until rice is cooked. Make sure to keep an eye on it so it doesn't boil dry. Add more water if needed.
6/ serve with crusty bread and butter.
Enjoy
Healthy old school eating, having babies and raising families.

The cleaning starts
I pulled all of our food from the cupboards today, oh my it's amazing to realise just how much junk you have stored in your cupboards. I will donate all of our usable food in the next week and will start over buying flour, sugar ect in bulk. I think we will literally be left with herbs and spices once I clean out.
I am on the hunt for a few good kitchen items because although I want to return to old school food I will use all the mod cons like bread makers and pasta rollers :P
I have been looking at information today on home made pet food and also home made chemical free cleaning products.
The hunt for a sperm donor is also on, I will keep you posted on progress.
Only a short update today as my chronic fatigue is not being kind to me and I need to sleep and hope that I wake up to a better health day tomorrow.

Kick starting Crazy
I don't know if I'm just a little crazy or certifiably insane but we are going to give this a go. I am going back to old fashioned home cooked foods, no more processed supermarket brought foods.
We are going to be trying for a baby and this prompted me to reevaluate our health and what we eat. In the coming months we will aim to only eat home made food cooked from scratch and give up our indulgences such as soft drink, shop brought frozen meals and the big one cigarettes.
I will post good recipes as I find them, so that others can join me on this crazy idea. I do already have some great recipes and I am going to hunt through both my late grandmothers recipe books as well as my mums. I'm sure I can find some fabulous meals for us.
We will finish the food that is in our home over the next week or so and move on to making everything from scratch.
My 16 year old (from a previous relationship) will have a little shock when she returns home in two weeks from her summer holiday. She loves food and as all children of this day and age loves processed foods 2 minute noodles, packet mac and cheese ect
We are going to do all this while trying to maintain a budget the first month we will have a shopping budget of $200 per week to give us a kick start and from then my goal is $100 per week to feed the three of us.
Wish me luck I'm going to need it!!
